Thoughts on Film

            This week a film was watched. It was called Waiting for Superman. It is indeed a powerful film. The film focused on the school system in America for teenagers and children. The film revealed the hard reality of the school system. The film showed the struggle of a few children and a teenage in the school system. They only wanted to get a good education but because of financial issues they were struggling. They tried getting into really good schools but the chances were low because the acceptance was done by a lottery. In the end, only two in the group were able to get into the school they wanted to go to. Another issue was mentioned in the film.

            Some teachers proved to be a problem. This fact was interesting to me. Teachers have tenure. Tenure keeps teachers from getting fired no matter how their performance in the classroom is. In the film, there were attempts to fire teachers who were not doing their jobs but the attempts failed. It is a sad reality that there teachers who do not do their jobs properly. Teachers are meant to teach students so students can learn and become successful adults. The future generations need to learn for the sake of the country. In order for those future generations to learn though, good teachers are needed. Students cannot learn without teachers. Students depend on teachers. Students are supposed to learn and gain experience in school so they can grow into the person they to be.
